Thailand’s Board of Trade Competition has issued Notification Regarding the Guidelines for the Consideration of Unfair Trade Practices in Franchise Businesses to prevent franchisors from imposing overly restrictive and unfair contractual conditions. The Notification came into force on 4 February 2020 and sets out obligations of the franchisor to disclose essential information and restrict the franchisor from engaging in unfair trade practices that may cause damage to the franchisee.  Despite the issuance of the Notification, other laws governing contracts and business operations still apply to govern the relationship between franchisor and franchisee.
